PRE OPERATIVE INSTRUCTION
- Notify your surgeon or family doctor if you develop a cold, sore throat, or other symptoms of illness prior to your surgical date.
- No smoking on the day of surgery.
- No alcohol 24 hours prior to your procedure. No street drugs or Marijuana for 72 hours prior to your procedure.
- No Aprin, herbs, vitamin E, Ibuprofen,or Motrin for 14 days before. Clotting Medications such as Ticlid or plavix - discontinue 7-10 days prior.
- No food or drink after midnight before your procedure. This includes water, coffee, juice and chewing gum.
- All weight loss medication (over the counter or prescription), herbs and dietary supplements such as Adipex, Bontril, Amarin, Didrex, Ionamin, Merida, Tenuate, Trimspa, Cortislim, Metabolife, and Dexatrim need to be discontinued 14 days prior to your surgery.
- Coumadin must be stopped 5 days prior to surgery.
- Clotting medication such as Ticlid or Plavix must be discontinued 7 days prior to surgery.
- Please notify your surgical scheduler of ALL medication you are taking when you schedule your procedure.
- If you are scheduling your surgery months in advance and you start taking a new medication, please call the office and make sure that you notify your doctor of the change.
- Pre-Admission testing will call you 2-3 days prior to your scheduled surgery date to see if they need you to come in for any testing, if you are scheduling a total joint replacement, make sure you attend your pre-surgical clearance appointments if it is necessary to have them.
- Please notify your surgical scheduler if you have a Latex Allergy or sensitivity.
