Dr. Meisel specializes in hip and knee joint replacement, arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder and knee; hand and foot surgeries and fracture care.
Arthroscopic Surgery —
Arthroscopic shoulder surgery allows for complex procedures to be completed through small incisions around the shoulder area. This allows for easier post operative care and decreased pain from similar open procedures. These procedures include rotator cuff repair, bursectomy and removal or bone spurs. Continued advances in this area is allowing more agresssive post operative therapy and quicker restoration of function.
Total Hip Joint Replacement —
Total hip joint replacement surgery continues to be refined. New implants with larger contact surfaces and harder materials improve joint motion and stability as well as implant survival. This coupled with small incision surgical techniques allows for shorter hospital stays and faster rehabilitation to normal activities of daily living and enjoyment. Dr Meisel has been using these implants routinely for the last ten years with great success. Contact his office to schedule a consultation regarding this procedure.
Total Knee Replacement —
Total knee replacement surgery has improved significantly over the last thirty years. Current knee implants have a mobile plastic bearing that simulates normal knee mechanics including rotation. These implants have a proven long track record for stability, wear and function. Dr. Meisel has performed this type of knee replacement for the last five years with high patient satisfaction. To find out if you are a candidate for mobile bearing total knee replacement please call and schedule a consultation with Dr. Meisel.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome —
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common painful and disabling disease. Symptoms include pain in the hand and wrist, numbness and weakness. When conservative treatment fails surgery is often necessary. Conservative treatment includes anti-inflammatories, splinting, and steroid injection. Nerve tests are usually completed prior to surgery to confirm the diagnosis and to exclude other neurologic disease.
Carpal tunnel surgery is completed as an outpatient procedure. If you think you have carpal tunnel syndrome and wish to be evaluated call for an appointment.
